Brainspotting Therapy.

Whether you're looking for brainspotting therapy near you or want to try a different type of therapy, brainspotting is a powerful tool.

This mind-body therapy allows for in-depth healing. When something traumatic happens, the memory and the felt experience of it become fragmented and stuck in our bodies. Brainspotting therapy allows us to go deeper, taking our thinking brain (our prefrontal cortex) offline so that we can access where the stuck points are held in our feeling brain (subcortex) and body.
We aren't able to think our way out of everything that we struggle with, and at times, we need to process things
more deeply to move through them properly.

If you've ever noticed instant reactions, emotional or physical, to things that seem to be larger than what the situation or stimuli logically calls for, then you've stumbled upon this very concept.

If you've ever noticed yourself stuck in something and feeling like you just keep repeating the same patterns, brainspotting may be for you.

What are Brainspotting sessions like?

One of the creeds in Brainspotting is 'where you look affects how you feel'. We'll start by talking about something that brings up some discomfort or activation, I'll guide you in finding a eye location or brainspot where you get in touch with emotions/physical sensations/memories more directly. Your only job is to observe, notice, and allow somatic sensations as your brain and your body work to create new neural pathways and decrease the intensity of any associated stimuli to what your target. You may notice sensations like tension in your chest, pressure in your head, or movement in your stomach. The focused mindful awareness allows you to re-process and heal these wounds and stuck points.

Brainspotting therapy can help you: process traumatic experiences or memories trapped in you body, decrease reactivity or the intensity of stressors, regulate your nervous system (and decrease anxiety and depression), address and release difficult emotions, break old patterns, increase self-confidence, self-compassion, and help you get in touch with your creativity and positive emotions.

Mindful Processing

Somatic Awareness

Brainspotting gives you an immersive experience in sitting and observing your feelings and sensations. We can also use biolateral sound through headphones to aid in regulating as you reprocess.

Dual Attunement

As you brainspot, your relationship with your therapist and the feeling of being with a safe, trusted person acts as both an anchor and an empathic guide in the process.

Brainspotting allows you to work with your autonomic nervous system and the somatic or subconscious components of unresolved trauma.
